| Description |
English: Buildings of the Burrell Collection, Pollock Park, Glasgow Sir William Burrell (former ship-owner) set stringent conditions in his will on the siting and display of his magnificent collection of art works - the fruits of a lifetime of assiduous collecting. Only after many years in mothballs did they finally see the light of day in this purpose-built gallery. The priceless medieval tapestries used to lie piled on the floor in Sir Williams's home where he would show them to privileged guests like a carpet salesman demonstrating his wares. |
