For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme. Zur kommenden Präsidentenwahl ! Wo lebt und schafft der deutsche Reichspräsident ! Das Reichspräsidenten-Palais in der Wilhelmstrasse 73 wurde 1839, für den Landjägermeister von Schwerin erbaut. Nach wechselvollem Schicksal ging es 1845 in den Besitz Friedrich Wilhelm IV. über. Bis 1871 war es der Sitz des Gouverneurs von Berlin. Von da an bis zum Jahre 1918 beherbergte es das königl. Hausministerium. Es besteht aus einem Wohnflügel und zwei einem Vorhof begrenzenden Seitenflügeln. Das erste Stockwerk enthält die Gesellschaftsräume und die Privaträume. Das Arbeitszimmer des Reichspräsidenten liegt im Erdgeschoss nach der Gartenseite hinaus. |
