For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme. This description has been identified as biased or incorrect: Die Angabe in der Original-Bildbeschreibung, auf dem Bild sei "oben Noske" zu sehen, ist eine propagandistische Überhöhung und darf nicht wörtlich verstanden werden. Gustav Noske ist auf dem Bild nicht zu sehen. Die uniformierten Personen in der oberen Bildhälfte sind vielmehr Reichswehrangehörige oder Sicherheitspolizisten. Noske hatte wegen seiner Rolle bei den Berliner Märzkämpfen ein Jahr zuvor (1919) den Ruf, für die blutige Niederschlagung von Arbeiteraufständen verantwortlich zu sein, und wird deshalb mit den Maßnahmen der Reichsregierung gegen die Rote Ruhrarmee identifiziert. Die Angabe, das Bild sei am Karfreitag (2. April 1920) aufgenommen worden, kann dagegen vom zeitlichen Ablauf der Ereignisse her durchaus zutreffen Deutsch: Blutiger Bürgerkrieg — Karfreitag 1920. Am Bahndamm in Möllen. Oben Noske, unten erschossene Rotarmisten.
English: Brutal Civil war — Good Friday 1920. At the Causeway in Möllen. At the Top there is Noske, at the Bottom there are shoot Red Army Soldiers.
