For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
Suhl, Fachwerkhaus, Wohnhochhaus ADN-ZB Schaar 21.9.88 Suhl:Das "Hexenhaus" nennen die Suhler liebevoll das kleine Fachwerkhäuschen im fränkisch-hennebergischen Stil, das im Zentrum der Bezirksstadt wieder aufgebaut wurde. Das ursprünglich Ende des 17. Jahrhunderts errichtete Gebäude mußte 1972 zunächst den Neubauten im Stadtzentrum weichen, wurde aber jetzt nach historischen Vorlagen neu geschaffen. Es beherbergt seit Anfang September in zwei Etagen Ausstellungen zur Suhler Geschichte, darunter die Wohnung einer Büchsenmacherfamilie um die Jahrhundertwende.
