For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
Rostock, Forschungsprojekt "Künstliches Herz" ADN-ZB Sindermann 22.2.89-erd-Rostock: Forschungsprojekt "Künstliches Herz" - Software für klinische Anwendung. Wissen und Erfahrungen von Medizinern, Naturwissenschaftlern und Ingenieuren fanden Eingang in Basis-Software zur Überwachung und Steuerung Künstlicher Herzen mit Computer für einen in den nächsten Jahren vorgesehenen Einsatz zur Überbrückung bis zur Herztransplantation. Eine Langzeitimplantation des Künstlichen Herzens als Dauerlösung ist auch in der DDR aus technischen und ethischen Gründen wie international derzeit nicht vorgesehen. An der Klinik für Innere Medizin der Wilhelm-Pieck-Universität wurde ein Softwarepaket (PAUMAC-System) für dieses Aufgaben entwickelt. Dr. Ing. Heiner Martin (rechts), Strömungsmechaniker und Informatiker, ist maßgeblich an der Entwicklung eines rechnergestützten Meß- und Überwachungssystems für die klinische Anwendung des Rostocker Künstlichen Herzens beteiligt.
