Mit einer verzweifelten Aktion machen diese Kali-Kumpel auf die dramatische Situation der Kalireviere im Südharz aufmerksam. Seit dem 1. August, 22:00 Uhr, ist die Schicht Hartmann unter Tage. Ihr Arbeitsauftrag für diesen Tag hieß: einfahren, aber nicht fördern. Die Vorsitzende der IG BEW Thüringen, Gabriele Glaubrecht (4.v.r.), will bei den Kumpels bleiben, bis deren Forderungen nach sozialer Absicherung und der Schaffung neuer Arbeitsplätze in der strukturschwachen Region erfüllt sind.
