For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
Eilsleben, Meliorationsmaschine, Grabenbau Zentralbild Biscan 25.9.1953 1000 ha Kulturland werden gewonnen. Dank der großzügigen Hilfe unserer Regierung, die bisher 800.000 DM zur Verfügung gestellt hat, kann der sogenannte Seelsche Bruch in der Nähe von Eilsleben trockengelegt werden. Zu diesem Zweck werden 70 cm tiefe Gräben durch den ganzen Bruch gezogen und Drainröhren in einer Gesamtlänge von 610 km gelegt. Durch dieses Binnenentwässerung werden 1000 ha Moorwiesen, die mehr als 400 Bauern und Volksgütern der Umgebung gehören, in fruchtbaren Ackerboden verwandelt. UBz: Der der privaten Tiefbaufirma Wilhelm Arndt in Haldersleben gehörende Spezialbagger für Vorflutgräben - die einzige derartige Maschine in der DDR.
