Wertvoller Schinkel-Bau gerettet
Die evangelische Gemeinde Magdeburgs hat am Sonntag, dem 28.3.54, die Nicolai-Kirche mit einem Festgottesdienst wieder in Gebrauch genommen. Die Nicolai-Kirche in Magdeburg-Neustadt - ein Bauwerk Karl Schinkels - ist knapp vor Kriegsende von anglo-amerikanischen Bomben zerstört worden. Der unter Denkmalschutz stehende Bau wurde mit Zuwendungen aus der Staatskasse in jahrelanger Arbeit wieder völlig instandgesetzt.
