For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
Berlin, Friedrichstraße, Bauarbeiter mit Stahlhelm, Kreuz Zentralbild Funck 1 Motiv 22.6.1954 "Nee" schrieben die Bauarbeiter vom VEB Tiefbau auf einen Stahlhelm, den sie bei Ausschachtungsarbeiten zur Verbreiterung der Friedrichstraße in Berlin fanden. UBz: (vlnr) Willi Meyer, Willi Klemmer und Ernst Bauchspieß bauten ein Kreuz und setzen den Stahlhelm auf die Spitze des Kreuzes. Damit wollen sie dokumentieren, daß sie gegen einen neuen Krieg sind, und daß sie bei der Volksbefragung für einen Friedensvertrag und gegen die EVG sind.
