For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
Magdeburg, Johanniskirche, Ruine, Trümmer Zentralbild Biscan 6.9.1954 Das Nationale Aufbauprogramm verwandelt den Stadtkern Magdeburgs Für das Nationale Aufbauwerk Magdeburg bewilligte der Ministerrat 1953 fünfzehrn Millionen DM. In der fats völlig zerbombten Innenstadt wurde mit dem Bau einer grossen Ost-West-Strasse begonnen. Jetzt nach 16 Monaten Bauzeit hat sich das Stadtzentrum grundlegend verwandelt. Die weiten Leerflächen des Zentrums sind verschwunden. Heute stehen hier eine ganze Reihe vier-, fünf- und mehrstöckiger Häuser, die zum Teil schon bezogen sind. UBz: Blick auf die Johannis-Kirche und das Alte Rathaus vor Inangriffnahme des Nationalen Aufbauwerks. (Siehe auch Bild 2N und 3N)
