For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
Dresden, Altmarkt, Kreuzkirche Zentralbild Löwe 19.7.1958 Der Wiederaufbau Dresdens. Walter Ulbricht gab in seinem Referat auf dem V. Parteitag der SED auch die Entwicklungsrichtung für den Wiederaufbau zerstörter Städte. In Dresden bezieht sich das vor allem auf den schnellen Wiederaufbau des Stadtzentrums. UBz: Blick vom Rathausturm auf den Altmarkt; im Hintergrund die Kreuzkirche.
