For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
Magdeburg, Museumsgarten, Roland-Büste Zentralbild Biscan po-zio 25.3.1968 Magdeburg: Ein bißchen böse schaut der Roland von Burg drein, weil man ihn von seinem angestammten Platz am "Hotel zum Roland" einfach in den Museumsgarten versetzt hat. Zur Zeit wird das 1690 erbaute Hotel abgerissen und weicht einem modernen Neubau mit etwa 50 Betten und verschiedenen kulturellen Einrichtungen, an dessen Fundamenten bereits gearbeitet wird. Selbstverständlich erhält der Roland, das Wahrzeichen von Burg, später wieder seinen Standort am Neubau. Der Leiter des Burger Museums, Wolfgang Buchholz, (unser Foto), "wacht" inzwischen darüber, daß der wertvollen Original-Büste aus dem Jahre 1583, nichts geschieht.
