For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
Chemnitz, "Haus der Staatsorgane" Zentralbild Thieme 24.4.1971 Karl-Marx-Stadt: "Proletarier aller Länder vereinigt Euch" - diese Worte zieren in mehreren Sprachen die 36 Meter hohe Aluminiumfassade des Hauses der Staatsorgane im Karl-Marx-Städter Zentrum, in dem der Rat des Bezirks und der Rat für Landwirtschaftliche Produktion und Nahrungsgüterwirtschaft untergebracht sind. Viele der jetzt freiwerdenden alten Verwaltungsgebäude werden zu Kindergärten umgestaltet oder von Betrieben genutzt.
