Weimar, Cranach-Haus ADN-ZB Deutsche Demokratische Republik 6.7.1972 schw Das Cranach-Haus in Weimar (Bez. Erfurt) Um eine Sehenswürdigkeit reicher wurde die Kunststadt Weimar durch die Restaurierung des Cranach-Hauses am Markt (unser Foto). Nachdem es bereits nach den Zerstörungen, die es im zweiten Weltkrieg erlitten hatte, wiederhergestellt worden war, ist es den Mitarbeitern des Amtes für Denkmalpflege in Halle gelungen, auch den Aussenanstrich der Fssade in alter Schönheit wiederzugeben. Lucas-Cranach d.Ä., dessen 500. Geburtstag in der DDR in diesem Jahr begangen wird, wohnte in dem von Nicol Gromann erbauten Hause in seinem letzten Kebensjahr von 1552-1553. In den Innenräumen befindet sich eine interessante Dokumentationsschau, die Aufschluß über Leben und Wirken Cranachs sowie über die Auseinandersetzung des Progressiven der Renaissance mit dem Feudalreaktionären des Mittelalters gibt.
