ADN-ZB Ludwig schw-Schä 30.6.1972 Junges und altes Erfurt Zwischen Thüringer Wald und Südharz liegt im Talbecken der Gera die Blumenstadt Erfurt, die seit 1952 die Hauptstadt des gleichnamigen Bezirkes ist. Im Jahre 742 von Bonifatius als Bistum gegründet, erlangte sie im Mittelalter aufgrund ihres Handels und des Anbaus von Wald, einer Pflanze, aus der ein damals äußerst begehrter blauer Farbstoff gewonnen wurde, ihre Blütezeit. Im 17. und 18. Jahrhundert wurde das Waid vom Indigo verdrängt. Erfurts Ruhm als Blumenstadt begründete Johann Christian Reichart (1685-1775), der hier den gewerbsmäßigen Gartenbau entwickelte. Auf dem Gelände der Cyriaksburg, einer großen parkähnlichen Grünanlage, finden alljährlich internationale Gartenbauausstellungen statt - Anziehungspunkt für Aussteller und Käufer aus vielen Ländern. Zur Zeit ziehen die Exponate der Internationalen Rosenschau die in- und ausländischen Besucher in ihren Bann, während im Herbst wieder andere Erzeugnisse des Gartenbaus das Interesse werden. UBz: Das Haus "Zum Roten Ochsen" (Bildmitte) das 1562 erbaut worden ist. |
