For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
Erfurt, "Schmidtstedter Knoten", Eisenbahnbrücke ADN-ZB Ludwig-6.10.77 Erfurt: Viele Jahre Nadelöhr im Straßenverkehr Erfurts ist der Schmidtstedter Knoten durch umfangreiche Baumaßnahmen zur großzügigen Verkehrslösung geworden. Kernstück dabei ist das eingeschobene Brückenbauwerk, das rund 40 Meter breit und 60 Meter lang ist. Diese Brücke mit einem Gewicht von etwa 17.000 (17 000) wurde in den Bahndamm nahe dem Erfurter Hauptbahnhof eingeschoben.
