ADN-ZB Link 24.10.1981 Bezirk Magdeburg: Schutz des Elbebibers - Der Biber zählt zu den 21 vom Aussterben bedrohten wildlebenden geschützten Tierarten in der DDR. Der Bestand an Elbebibern, der 1948 bei etwa 150 Exemplaren lag, konnte durch gezielte Schutzmaßnahmen auf 270 Ansiedlungen mit annähernd 1.000 Stück erhöht werden. Zu den besonderen Leitungen der Biologischen Station Steckby des Instituts für Landschaftsforschung und Naturschutz der Akademie der Landwirtschaftswissenschaften rechnen die Umsiedlung von 30 Bibern von der Mulde in die Bezirke Neubrandenburg und Rostock, an einen Verfluer der Havel und in das Peenetal. Die Biologische Station Steckby arbeitet mit anderen wissenschaftlichen Einrichtungen zusammen und ist für die Anleitung der Bezirksarbeitsgruppen "Artenschutz" verantwortlich. Über 200 ehrenamtliche Naturschutzhelfer gewährleisten eine ständige Überwachung der Biber-Betreuungsgebiete sowie Pflege und Erhaltung des Lebensraumes. Mit ihren Beobachtungsergebnissen ermöglichen sie eine jährliche Biber-Bestandszählung. |
