| Description |
English: Burnham Beeches: McAuliffe Drive McAuliffe Drive is one of several asphalted drives in Burnham Beeches, although not open for the public to use their vehicles on.
A search on the internet failed to reveal why it is named after someone called McAuliffe, although Henry Thomas McAuliffe (1867-1951) was the Chairman of the Coal, Corn, and Finance Committee of the Corporation of London in the 1920s, and knighted for his services in 1928, and the Corporation own and manage the woods, so perhaps it is named after him. Perhaps someone could confirm this? |
