Description A burning U.S. Navy Vought F4U-4B Corsair fighter plane heads for a crash landing aboard the aircraft carrier USS Philippine Sea (CV-47), with smoke pouring out of its starboard side, during operations off Korea on 22 October 1950. The carrier in the middle distance appears to be USS Valley Forge (CV-45).
