English: The Art of Gilding: traditional water gilding - Burnishing the gold with an agate stone. Master Gilders, founded by Laurence Filet, a master gilder and native of France is a traveling team of craftsmen dedicated to the revival of the art and craft of gilding. Based in Northern California since the beginning of 2004, Laurence travels extensively to apply the skills learnt as an apprentice in fine ateliers of Paris and Aix-en-Provence. The methods used, embody the height of the art of gilding that were developed during the golden age of Louis the XIV, King of France during the last decades of the 17th century.
