Description
Français : Bien que Mayotte soit le plus pauvre territoire français d’outre-mer, les cabanes en matériaux premiers ne sont pas seulement symbole de pauvreté. Culturellement, le passage à la majorité chez le jeune homme à Mayotte est marqué par la construction de sa propre habitation traditionnelle : le « banga ». Constitué principalement de terre, de paille et de bois, le banga abrite aussi à Mayotte les familles les plus modestes tout comme les cases en tôle. Aujourd’hui, il est courant de voir ces mêmes bangas dissimulés ou améliorés, habillés par des tôles et d’autres matériaux plus coûteux que les matières premières.
