| Description |
Nederlands: Negatief. Hoewel er in de meeste steden geen tekort aan markten was, hoefden de Europeanen - of liever gezegd hun personeel - voor allerlei producten hun huis niet uit. Verkopers (m/v) van van alles en nog wat kwamen regelmatig langs de deur. Bij het onderzoek naar kaliteit en kwantiteit van de voeding van dorpelingen in Koetowinangoen, uitgevoerd in 1933/34, bleek het grootste deel van de bevolking per persoon en per dag nog geen 3 cent uit te geven aan eten. Degenen die met eieren en dergelijke langs de deuren gingen, moesten het dan ook hebben van minieme winstmarges op hun koopwaar. (P. Boomgaard, 2001).
