English: A tapster at a rubberplantation, Dutch East Indies
Nederlands: Repronegatief. Rubber wordt verworven uit latex, het melksap van de rubberboom. De latex wordt aan de boom ontrokken door het maken van insnijdingen in de bast. Onder het laagste punt van de tapsnede wordt een metalen gootje of 'spout' aangebracht, waardoor de latex in de 'cups' stroomt. De cups worden regelmatig geleegd in verzamelemmers. Die verzamelemmers worden naar de fabriek gedragen of naar een ontvangststation in de aanplant. Met de tapmethoden heeft men lang en veel geëxperimenteerd. Daarbij werd gezocht naar een evenwicht tussen hoge jaarlijkse opbrengsten en de tijd die de bast nodig had om zich te herstellen. (P. Boomgaard, 2001).
