Nederlands: Repronegatief. Het eiland Nias stond (en staat) zeer in de belangstelling van zowel antropologen als toeristen vanwege de bijzondere architectuur van de dorpen en de vele stenen beelden en andere voorwerpen. Een combinatie die ook wel elders op Sumatra wordt aangetroffen. Op de foto is een stenen zetel van een dorpshoofd afgebeeld. Het 'monster' dat de rugleuning siert, lijkt als centraal element de snavel van een neushoornvogel te hebben. In tegenstelling tot hun 'buren', de egalitaire Mentawaiers, zijn de Niassers zeer hiërarchisch georganiseerd. Dat blijkt onder meer uit de hoge zetels voor hun adel. (P. Boomgaard, 2001).
