| Description |
Nederlands: Repronegatief. Het stadje Soekadana was de hoofdstad van het rijk(je) (of wat men toen ook wel een 'landschap' noemde) Soekadana. Europeanen hadeen al rond 1600 belangstelling voor het toen nog uitgestrekte rijk, ondermeer vanwege de diamanten die daar verhandeld werden. Enige jaren later bracht de vloot van Mataram het rijk een gevoelige slag toe, waarna de Europese belangstelling goeddeels verdween. Later in de 17e eeuw exporteerde Soekadana nog wel rijst en sago naar andere plaatsen in de Archipel. In de 20e eeuw was het nog slechts een klein 'landschap' met een paar duizend inwoners. Er woonden in de 20e eeuw geen Dajaks meer in het rijkje, zodat de mensen van de foto vermoedelijk rondtrekkende muzikanten waren. (P. Boomgaard, 2001).
