Nederlands: Beeld. Alle huizen en paleizen werden gebouwd van vergankelijk materiaal en moesten beschermd worden tegen termieten en verval door het te bedekken met een laag terracotta. De meeste terracotta's hebben hun oorsprong in Trawulan, waar ooit de belangrijkste stad van het Majapahit-rijk was gelegen.
Het hoofdje stelt waarschijnlijk Togog, een opvallend misvormde bediende (panakawan) voor, die voorkomt in Javaanse verhalen en drama's.. Terracotta hoofd |
