Italiano: Citazione su Calascibetta
Deutsch: Goethe-Zitat mit Schreibfehlern in Calascibetta (Sizilien).
Der Text aus der Italienischen Reise lautet im Zusammenhang wie folgt:
„Man sieht Castro Giovanni nicht eher, als bis man ganz oben auf den Bergrücken gelangt; denn es liegt am Felsabhang gegen Norden. Das wunderliche Städtchen selbst, der Turm, links in einiger Entfernung das Örtchen Caltascibetta stehen gar ernsthaft gegeneinander. In der Plaine sah man die Bohnen in voller Blüte, wer hätte sich aber dieses Anblicks erfreuen können! Die Wege waren entsetzlich, noch schrecklicher, weil sie ehemals gepflastert gewesen, und es regnete immer fort.“

Die fehlenden Umlaute gehen auf das Konto des Steinmetzen und/oder seines Auftraggebers. Die Schreibweise „Caltascibetta“ (mit „t“) findet sich aber schon bei Goethe.
