| Description |
English: Callanish - provisional notice. Excavations were undertaken in 1980 and 1981 in advance of repairs to the cairn. They showed that the first activity of man on the site was ploughing (for cereals probably). Timber structures, possibly buildings, were put up. All this took place possibly as early as 5500 years ago. |
