Description

The two-story building, now boarded up, was the early hotel portion of the trading post. The Native American customers had to come in from long distances by horse or wagon. They could not make the return trip the same day, so rooms were rented to them for an overnight stay. Later tourists began to use the rooms, and finally a large motel complex was built. At the back of this building on the left side appears to be the early jail, a one-cell affair.
