English: Canal planks These planks are used as a temporary dam on the canal.
In the canal bank are vertical groves on opposite sides that the planks slide into to from a dam. If you look very closely at this https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1005156 you can just make out the 4 missing bricks that let air into this space. |
