Summary[edit]
| Description | This "cannon," mounted on a truck, was used in the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus to propel men - "human cannonballs" - across the circus tent or auditorium in the 1930s to early 1960s. Most were members of the Zacchini family, in several generations. John Ringling brought their act to the U.S. for his circus in 1929. The cannon is in the Circus Museum, part of the Ringling Museum in Sarasota, Florida. |
