| Description |
English: Capel Bethel, Church Street 1820/1869 Calvinistic Methodist chapel, a stone's throw from the parish church (which it precedes in date). Now, in part at least, a chapel of rest.
The chapel has a claim to fame in its one-time minister Evan Phillips (1829-19120), a local lad who abandoned a career as a tailor to join the Welsh Methodist Revival and returned here to preach his famously succinct sermons for which he was known as 'Evan Phillipps twenty minutes' see http://yba.llgc.org.uk/en/s-PHIL-EVA-1829.html |
