Summary[edit]

Description Capt. William Titus Rigby, first resident commissioner of the Vicksburg National Military Park. Note: William Titus Rigby became the park’s Resident Commissioner and later Chairman and as such was heavily involved in the planning and organization of Vicksburg National Military Park. During his administration he acquired land which included the siege lines of the Union and Confederates. He oversaw the building of the infrastructure of the park and through his correspondence with Veterans of the Siege, he determined the proper location for the placement of tablets and state memorials in Vicksburg National Military Park.
