Description |
The title (in Dutch) was written on the verso. The ship was built by S.A. des Forges et Chantiers de La Méditerranée, La Seyne, France in 1855 as the Normandie. In December 1857 she collided with the first Willem de Derde and sank her. The courts decided that her owners, M. Fraissinet & Fils, Marseille, France were responsible and in 1859 she was handed over to Koninklijke Nederlandsche Stoomboot Mij as part of the settlement and became the second Willem de Derde. In August 1870 she ran aground off Rotterdam and sank. Source: https://www.marhisdata.nl/schip&id=8730 |
