Dr. Carolina Barillas-Mury is the head of the Mosquito Immunity and Vector Competence Section at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases of the National Institutes of Health.

Summary[edit]

Description
English: Dr. Carolina Barillas-Mury was elected to the National Academy of Sciences in 2014. Millions of people are affected by the life-threatening disease of malaria, carried by mosquitos, which Barillas-Mury investigates. She studies the interactions between the mosquito immune system and Plasmodium parasites to understand how they affect malaria transmission.
