Summary[edit]

Description
English: Carperby Stone Mine A band of flaggy sandstone was mined from within the hillside here. The narrowness of the sandstone can be seen here as the rock on the hillside above the mine entrances is carboniferous limestone. Similar, but much larger stone mines can be seen on Stags Fell to the north of Hawes.
