Theoretical physicist Marios Petropoulos giving a lecture (2019)

Summary[edit]

Description

English: Marios Petropoulos is a researcher at the CNRS and a lecturer in the Physics Department of the École Polytechnique. He is a member of the String Theory team at the Center for Theoretical Physics. After starting his career in experimental condensed matter physics, he turned to theoretical and mathematical physics. His interests cover supergravity theories, black holes and other exotic objects as well as the description of strings in a gravitational environment. He pioneered the study of the behavior of strings in an anti-Sitter-type gravitational field, which has been found to be fundamental to the concept of holographic matching. He regularly participates in events and conferences aimed at the general public.
