Summary[edit]

Description
English: -The word “Mon” means hill and “Shae” means city. So, Mon Pya Shae of Lam Parng City could mean the chief hill of the city. Mon Pya Shae is located in Tumbol Pichai, Muang District, and is in the north east of Lam Parng Province. It is a park area. -In this area there is Mon Kai Khia where Mon Pya Shae Temple is located. According to the history it was built in B.E. 2353 (1810). The legend indicated that it was the place for the practice of the dharma of 5 hermits. Formerly in this temple there was a pagoda on the top of the hill. It was believed that this pagoda was the place containing Buddha's relics and later on it was destroyed during the World War II. It was reconstructed in B.E. 2498 (1955). There is a worship ceremony every year in the 9th month of the north on the night of the Raem 8th (Cultural Encyclopedia of Northern Thailand, Volume 10).
