English: Book of Hours (`Hours of Philip of Burgundy'; use of Paris)
  • Place of origin, date: Oudenaarde, Jean Miélot (scribe), Jean le Tavernier e.a. (illuminator); c. 1450-1460
  • Material: Vellum, ff. 341, 268x187 (165x110) mm, 20 lines, littera cursiva. Latin and French. Binding: 16th-century brown leather, blind, made by Antoine de Gavere
  • Decoration: 153 grisaille miniatures ( mm); 12 grisaille illustrations in the margin (calendar); penwork initials with pen-flourishes throughout
  • Provenance: Made for Philip the Good, Duke of Burgundy (d. 1467). Purchased by G.J. Gérard at the sale at Mons of Mme. de Montfort, canonnes of the Chapter of St. Wandru; acquired in 1832 as part of the coll. of G.J. Gérard of Brussels (no. A 3)
