Description

Charles II coat of arms, Gorey Castle. King Charles had his coat of arms placed in a prominent position on the castle after the restoration of the Monarchy in 1660.
The terrified crowned lion of England and the unicorn of Scotland support the shield.
The shield is divided into quarters with the first and fourth quarters bearing Henry IV's shield.
Scotland's lion rampant is shown in the second quarter and the Irish harp is in the third quarter.

The garter bears the motto "Honi soit qui mal y pense" (Shamed be he who thinks ill of it).
