Description

Chauvigny (Vienne)

Église Saint-Pierre.

Le clocher et le mur d'enceinte du donjon d'Harcourt.


Le choeur et le Transept ont été construits en premier, puis la nef dans la deuxième partie du XIIème siècle.

Le clocher a été élevé sur la coupole octogonale de la croisée de transept au XIIIème siècle.

Le clocher approximativement carré, s'élève sur trois niveaux. le premier est nu. Le deuxième présente une arcature de quatre arcades aveugles en plein cintre sur chaque

face. Le troisième a également quatre arcades par face, mais les deux arcades centrales sont percées d'une baie. La toiture est pyramidale.
