| Description |
Chauvigny (Vienne) Donjon de Gouzon (XIe-XIIIe siècles). Situé au nord de la collégiale saint-Pierre, ce donjon est le seul vestige du château de Gouzon. Les parties les plus anciennes remontent au XIe siècle. Le château a d'abord appartenu à la famille poitevine de Beaumont, puis, par mariage de Blanche de Beaumont avec Guy de Gouzon, à la fin du XIIIe siècle, à celle, bourbonaise, de Gouzon. Ensuite, le château fut acquis vers 1350, par Fort d'Aux, évêque de Poitiers En 1687, un procès verbal le décrit comme ruiné. Classé monument historique à la fin du XIX e siècle, le donjon est acquis, après consolidation, par l'État et la ville de Chauvigny en 1992. Un chantier de fouilles révéla à l'emplacement actuel du donjon, l'existence de niveaux archéologiques néolithiques et protohistoriques qui prouvent une occupation très ancienne. Les restes d'un fossé, des trous de poteaux appartenant à de grands bâtiments ont été découverts par les archéologues, ainsi que des outils (grattoirs, burins...) et des restes de poteries. |
