| Description |
English: Entrance to Cheltenham Racecourse station. View northward on A435 towards Evesham etc., towards Toddington and Stratford on the main line,ex-GWR Birmingham - Stratford-on-Avon - Cheltenham - (Gloucester - Bristol etc.) main line, which closed to passenger trains from 23/3/68 and to through freight 1/11/76. The Racecourse station below received Seasonal Race Specials until 3/76. The Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway Society acquired Toddington from 30/5/81, then progressively reopened the main line southwards to Cheltenham Racecourse station, which was reconnected on 28/12/00 - i.e. soon after this photograph. |
