Summary[edit]

Description

During the Great Depression candy makers appealed to children with embedded trinkets, such as candy, including coins, small lead toys, and in this case, a ring. The 1938 Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act prohibited this practice due largely to the pioneering work of Chevalier Jackson, who identified them as a children’s choking hazard.
