Summary[edit]

On the larger picture, Jesus is between S. Peter and S. Paul and above a painting of the Divine Lamb.

Detail of a fresco on the catacomb of Saints Marcellinus and Peter, Via Labicana, Rome, Itally, 4th century. (See larger picture on the right). During the 4th century, Jesus was beginning to be depicted as older and bearded, in contrast to earlier Christian art, which usually showed a young and clean-shaven Jesus.
