Description
Español: Este ciervo presenta la cornamenta en la etapa final de su crecimiento, pero aún mantiene la fina capa de piel a través de la cual se suministran los nutrientes necesarios para el crecimiento de la misma. Los ciervos renuevan sus cuernos cada año. Primero tienen una fase de crecimiento después del cual se desprende de la capa de piel que los cubre, en un proceso llamado descorreado. Las cornamentas son usadas en la época de berrea o apareamiento durante las luchas rituales entre machos. Después se produce el desmogue o caída de los cuernos y el ciclo vuelve a comenzar.
