A woman holds up a colourful hand made message in front of Britain's parliament calling for "Climate jobs now". In contrast to some British tabloids which have highlighted a supposed threat to jobs from stricter curbs on carbon emissions, green activists stress the benefits to the economy a greater emphasis on climate change friendly technology could bring. They argue that protecting the environment can create many job opportunities. The climate change march in London on 29 November was held as part of a series of rallies worldwide prior to the Paris climate change talks. Activists want decisive action to limit the rise in average global temperature to 2 degrees celcius above pre-industrial levels. |
