English: Close-up, road signs, County Road, Swindon, near to Swindon, Great Britain.
The 'pre-Worboys' sign dates from the time when County Road was part of a through route in the town. The road number indicators, which would have been attached to the ends of the boards, as in this image <a title="https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1099250" rel="nofollow" href="https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1099250">Link</a><img style="padding-left:2px;" alt="External link" title="External link - shift click to open in new window" src="http://s0.geograph.org.uk/img/external.png" width="10" height="10"/> have been removed. Had they still been there they would have read, top to bottom, A361, A345, A420 and A419 (additional information from a fellow contributor with thanks). |
