| Description |
May-be the most mysterious sarcophagus in the Egyptian Museum of Cairo. More and more people believe this is the coffin of Akenaten, for which so long is searched for. The sarcophagus was found in January 1907 in tomb 55 by Theodore Davis and Edward R. Ayrton. The names on the coffin are erased. People used to think it might be the sarcophagus of Akhenaten's successor Smenkhkare, but - as said - it is possible the coffin in which King Akenaten actually found his last restingplace.
