L'oeuvre est une vue de Colchester, elle est un modèle pour une gravure. Une chasse au lièvre est représentée mais elle fait allusion à la chasse aux sorcières qui avait eu lieu dans cette ville lors de la guerre civile.

L'exposition présente la collection de l'industriel et mécène anglais Samuel Courtauld, l'une des plus significatives collections de peintres impressionnistes, rassemblés pour la première fois à Paris depuis 60 ans.
